A VERY RARE CIRCA 1914 TUNIC TO AN NCO OF WURTTEMBERG RESERVE REGIMENT 247, A REGIMENT WHICH SERVED MAINLY AGAINST THE BRITISH ON THE WESTERN FRONT. MADE FROM RIBBED WOOL MATERIAL. USUALLY USED FOR OFFICERS TUNICS, THESE RIBBED MATERIAL TUNIC WERE PRESSED INTO SERVICE AS OTHER RANKS TUNICS DURING THE CLOTHING SHORTAGE ENCOUNTERED WITH THE START OF THE WAR. IN VERY GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE. NO MOTH NIPS. NO REPAIRS. THERE ARE SOME SMALL WEAR MARKS AND SLIGHT FRAYING TO THE CUFF EDGES. SOME COLOUR BLEED FROM THE RED PIPING, A CLEAR SIGN OF FIELD USAGE. THE LINING TO THE COLLAR SLIT FROM SERVICE WEAR, BUT ONLY NOTICEABLE IF YOU GO LOOKING FOR IT. SLIGHT WEAR TO THE LINING. BREAST WITH LOOPS FOR AN IRON CROSS, HOLES FOR A WOUND BADGE, AND LOOPS FOR A RIBBON BAR. 34 INCH CHEST
