18TH CENTURY GERMAN – DUTCH FLINTLOCK MUSKET. OF U.S WAR OF INDEPENDENCE PERIOD. THE LOCK A POTZDAM LOCK OF THE M-1740 TYPE. GERMANIC STYLE BUTT PLATE WITH LARGE ROUNDED SCREW HEADS. 33 INCH BARREL HELD BY THREE LARGE BRASS BANDS. SWIVEL TO THE TRIGGER GUARD, BUT NO UPPER SWIVEL. OVERALL IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. GOOD WORKING ORDER TO THE LOCK. NO PITTING. NO STOCK DAMAGE. THE BREECH WITH PRIVATE TOWER OF LONDON PROOF STAMPS. POSSIBLY INDICATING AN ASSOCIATION WITH THE KINGS GERMAN LEGION WHICH RECEIVED MUCH EQUIPMENT FROM THE BRITISH. MAYBE THIS MUSKET WAS RETURNED TO BRITISH STORES AND PROOFED BEFORE STORAGE.
